You can opt into push notifications to get updates in the app on your phone or in your browser.

When prompted, tap "Allow" to enable them.

You'll get notified when:

  • Someone RSVPs to your event
  • Someone comments or replies on your event
  • There's a reminder or a message about an event you're going to

For the best experience, install the app on your phone. App notifications arrive instantly and are free to send — and once you have the app, reminders and host messages come through as notifications instead of texts.

Push notifications work alongside SMS. If a reminder or message can't reach you as an app notification, we fall back to a text so you don't miss it. SMS is the most reliable way to reach people who haven't installed the app.

You can turn off push notifications anytime in your phone or browser settings.

If you're hosting, your guests see a prompt to enable notifications after they RSVP.

When notifications are sent

Different notifications go out through different channels. Here's when you can expect each:

Trigger Who receives Push SMS
RSVP confirmation Guest who RSVP'd No No
New RSVP Host Yes No
RSVP change (going to maybe, etc.) Host Yes No
New comment Host Yes No
Comment reply Everyone in the thread Yes No
7-day reminder Going guests Yes Fallback
7-day nudge Maybe guests Yes Fallback
1-day reminder Going guests Yes Fallback
1-day nudge Maybe guests Yes Fallback
Host message Selected guests Yes Fallback

Notes:

  • Push covers app notifications on your phone and browser push. RSVP and comment notifications go to whoever has push enabled — app or browser.
  • Reminders, nudges, and host messages are push-first with an SMS fallback. Guests with the app installed get an app notification; anyone without the app (or whose notification can't be delivered) gets a text instead. These broadcast-style notifications go to the app or SMS only — not browser push.
  • Automatic reminders (7-day and 1-day) are created when you publish your event. You can edit or delete them in the Messages panel.
  • Host messages go to whichever RSVP groups you select when composing — Going, Maybe, or Not going.
  • Comment replies notify everyone in the thread, not just the host.
  • SMS reaches anyone with a phone number, so it's the backstop when a notification can't be pushed.
